Mariners of Bewl (MoB) had a great day on 1st September 2018 hosting a sailing day for guests of Hilary's Dream Trust when they introduced 17 people who were disadvantaged and or were physically disabled to dinghy sailing.

This was an event that Hilary and the HDT Trustees had been planning with MoB for the past 6 months. Although a sad occasion as Hilary could not be with them, it was also a really happy occasion as they were able to make one of Hilary's aims and dreams come true.
Hilary Lister from Dunkirk, Kent was a truly inspirational woman who sadly died on 18th August 2018 at the age of 46. She was the first quadriplegic person to sail across the English Channel using straws in her mouth to control her boat. She was also the first disabled woman to sail solo round Britain and set another record by crossing the Indian Ocean.
Hilary's achievements and legacy were recently featured on Meridian News and Radio 4's Last Words and in the Kent Messenger.
