We’re ‘Pushing The Boat Out’ at Bewl on Saturday 14th May!

28 Apr 2016

From May 14th to 22nd the Royal Yachting Association is sponsoring a nationwide event to encourage more people to have a go at sailing and on 14th May BSA will be joining in too.

On Saturday May 14th, in association with the site owners ‘Bewl Water’, we are holding a “Push The Boat Out” day at Bewl. All visitors, young, old and all levels of fitness are invited to join us and ‘have a go’ at sailing with an experienced helm.

There will be a variety of boats all waiting to take you sailing. There will be no charge and buoyancy aids will be available. When sailing you can sometimes get wet, especially the feet, so it is advisable to bring a spare set of clothes and wear shoes you’d wear on the beach. Comfortable changing rooms will be on hand.

Teas, coffees and ice creams can be purchased from the ‘pop up’ cafe and more substantial meals in the Boathouse Bistro.

Members of Bewl Sailing Association will be available all day to talk about the sport they love and also answer any questions you may have.

If you are not free on Saturday 14th come and watch the racing on a Sunday morning and chat to the helms and crews before or after racing and let us share our enthusiasm for sailing with you.

Bewl Water is a fantastic place to sail if you want a relaxing cruise with friends, take part in competitive racing, or simply blast across the 770 acre reservoir. The new owners have worked hard to upgrade the look and feel of the facilities and make it more accessible to the public, with entry fees now set at just £2 per car. The reservoir has an irregular shape and is big enough to fulfil whatever dream you have of dinghy sailing - you can gently explore quiet little creeks, or satisfy your desire for speed in competitive racing with some of the most challenging courses in the South East. An additional benefit and perhaps reassurance is that you can always see dry land and there are no tides to deal with!
